I know, I know. Who in the world am I, right? You aren’t going to read anything I write or do anything about the things I am writing about. But you really, really should be doing something about Pam Bondi.
Her penchant for going out in public and telling brazen lies isn’t going to stop unless someone you can put her license in jeopardy takes action. And lying isn’t the only unethical stuff she’s doing, of course.
I started this plea to you last month, so I won’t repeat myself beyond, again, stressing that if Ms. Bondi wanted to be able to be a propaganda machine for Dear Leader then she should’ve taken a position other than Attorney General of the United States.
But here’s some more pretty significant warning signs that y’all probably need to step up and start doing something about this particular Florida lawyer.
With no regulatory entity challenging her about her prior lie about the election result, Ms. Bondi has now ramped up the lie even further on two different occasions recently. Once again, on national television, Ms. Bondi lied about the fact that Trump only won the 2024 election with a plurality of votes. This time she did not even limit her statement to voters but instead claimed that Trump was elected by an overwhelming majority of Americans. The specific lie that she told on Fox News Sunday last week was: “[Trump] was overwhelmingly elected by an overwhelming majority of the United States citizens to be our commander-in-chief.” That is, of course, not even close to a truthful statement.
Then today, in a Presidential cabinet meeting, Ms. Bondi again asserted that Trump had been “overwhelmingly elected by the biggest majority.” Another obvious and blatant false statement. And she also demonstrated that the election tally is not the only thing that she will openly lie about. She, in the same breath, falsely claimed that the President has “the authority to determine how the money of the country is spent.” That is, of course, a false statement in light of how the law actually works under The Impoundment Control Act.
As a final thing you might want to try to do something about, Ms. Bondi is also circulating correspondence to various departments of the U.S. Government that seems to clearly indicate that Ms. Bondi has little respect for the rule of law. The memo also seems to imply that the agencies receiving the memo really don’t have to actually comply with the rulings of a federal district court. But even if you don’t read it as doing that, there is no way to read it without seeing that it contains obvious lies about the Jenner & Block law firm and its lawyers as well as statements about a federal district judge that run afoul of RPC 8.2.
One reply on “A Follow-up Open Letter to The Florida Bar”
I agree completely. She is blatantly ignoring the Constitution. She flat out lied in her confirmation hearing. She’s ordered DOJ attorneys to defend the President at the expense of the American people and the rule of law. DOJ attorneys are being threatened by their supervisors for participating in hearings to bring to light what is going on at the DOJ. She is violating judicial orders and outright lying stating the judiciary doesn’t have the authority to tell the executive branch that it’s not complying with the law. She has disgraced the legal profession and office in which she serves. She should be disbarred and removed. Did you already submit an actual complaint to the Florida Bar? Thanks.
